Join our dynamic team of chemical and molecular biologists at CeMM’s Platform Austria for Chemical Biology PLACEBO. Equipped with state-of-the-art robotics equipment, we develop, optimize and perform high-throughput screens to identify novel bioactive small molecules.
Tasks and responsibilities
Lab management including ordering and preparing of reagents and consumables
Maintaining our collection of approximately 100,000 small molecules (preparing compound stock solutions, formatting to microtiter plates, plate replication, screening plate preparation and cherry picking, checking purity and identity)
Operating our fully robotic state-of-the-art high throughput and high content screening equipment (including confocal automated microscope, plate reader, liquid handling workstation, plate washer, dispensers)
Developing cell based and biochemical assays in collaboration with internal and external scientific groups
Performance of high content and high throughput screens
Data management and analysis
The Institute
CeMM, the Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, is a flagship institute for biomedical research in the heart of Europe, Vienna. CeMM is committed to highest scientific standards as exemplified by recent publications in top journals including Nature, Cell and Nature Immunology as well as by its top international scientific advisory board. The environment is very dynamic, interactive and international. One of CeMM`s advantages is to be in close proximity to the Vienna Medical University Campus and the General Hospital (AKH). This allows the fruitful interaction of basic scientists with clinicians, and the use of models and cutting-edge technology to disease-relevant biological questions. According to a study by The Scientist, CeMM is ranked as the best European place to work in Academia 2012, internationally CeMM appears at the fourth place.
