The General Infrastructure Services (GS) Department provides and supports the infrastructure and services needed to ensure the preservation of the health and safety of everyone on the CERN site. The Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the buildings and for the underground civil engineering works on the Organization’s two sites. It also provides the logistics services and scientific and administrative information systems required by the whole Laboratory.
As a Group within the GS Department, the Medical Service (ME) is responsible for all occupational health activities for all CERN personnel and provides a first aid and medical emergency service. It also monitors cases of occupational accidents and illnesses and monitors personnel on long-term sick leave. The service comprises two doctors, one psychologist, three nurses, two assistants and one laboratory technician.
The infirmary is open from 8.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., 5 days a week.
Functions
Functions will also include:
- Performing secretarial tasks for the Medical Service, such as interfacing with patients, handling enquiries, recording and archiving medical files, scheduling appointments;
- Managing the appointment diaries of the doctors and the psychologist,
- performing the various analyses prior to medical check-ups (eye test, urine sample);
- Writing the minutes of meetings and following up the agreed action points,
- drafting the doctors' letters;
- Updating the Medical Service's webpages
